Good morning, grandchildren!

I wish I were with you right now so I could give you a
great big hug and tell you how much I love you!

Today’s Scripture is:

“They said to Him,
‘Rabbi,’ which means teacher, ‘where are you staying?’”
John 1:38

Jesus moved from town to town, teaching people in the synagogue (their church) about God. People loved listening to Him and learning from His words.

One day, Jesus went up on a mountainside and sat down to teach His followers. Many people gathered to hear Him. This teaching is known as The Sermon on the Mount.

He taught many important lessons, such as:

  • Be kind to everyone

  • Sharing with others

  • Forgive people when they hurt you

  • Spend your money wisely and give generously

  • Do not worry—God will take care of you

  • How to pray

  • The Golden Rule: Treat other people like you want to be treated

Jesus is our Teacher, and He teaches us how to live a life that pleases God. We can also thank God for the teachers He uses today—parents, pastors, Sunday school teachers, and others—to help us learn more about Him.

Let’s Pray Together

Father God,

Thank You for sending Jesus to be our Teacher. Thank You for all the important lessons He teaches us. Help us remember them and practice them in our lives.

We love You!

Amen.

Today’s Question:

Which of Jesus’ lessons from the Sermon on the Mount is easiest for you to follow, and which one is a little harder? How can you try to do it this week?
