Good morning, grandchildren!
I wish I were with you right now so I could give you a
great big hug and tell you how much I love you!
Today’s Scripture is:
“Christ Jesus himself…the cornerstone”
Ephesians 2:20 ESV
Jesus told a story in Matthew 7 and Luke 6 about two men who built houses. This story was part of the teaching known as the Sermon on the Mount, when Jesus sat on a mountainside teaching many people.
One man built his house on solid rock, using a strong cornerstone. The other man built his house on sand, which was soft and weak.
When storms came, the house built on rock and the cornerstone stood strong. But the house built on sand fell apart.
The point of Jesus’ story is that we should build our lives on Him as our foundation and cornerstone. If we hear His teachings and obey them, our lives will be strong enough to handle life’s storms—troubles, hard times, and challenges.
Just like we take lessons to learn important skills—swimming, piano, skiing—we also learn spiritual lessons. Doing what Jesus says is laying the foundation of our lives on Him. As we grow, we can keep building on that strong foundation.
Let’s thank Him for being our Cornerstone.
Let’s Pray Together
Thank You, Jesus, for being the foundation of our lives. Help us today to love You and do everything You taught us to do. Thank You for making our lives strong. We love You! Amen.
