Good morning, grandchildren!
I wish I were with you right now so I could give you a
great big hug and tell you how much I love you!
Today’s Scripture is:
The followers went to Jesus and woke him.
They said, “Master! Master! We will drown!”
Luke 8:24 ICB
A master is someone who has authority or control, like a boss or a leader. In Jesus’ time, a master could also have servants or workers who followed his instructions.
The story we are talking about today is told in Matthew, Mark, and Luke. After a long day of teaching, Jesus was tired. He and His followers got into a boat to cross a lake. Suddenly, a strong storm came and rocked the boat, almost tipping it over!
Jesus was sleeping, but when His friends woke Him, He simply told the storm to calm down.
Immediately, the water became still. This story shows that Jesus is the Master over all the earth, even controlling the weather!
Here’s another way to think about a Master. Have you ever seen an orchestra or a band perform? All the musicians and instruments follow the conductor, who leads them. Everyone listens carefully to make beautiful music together.
In the same way, Jesus is our Master. He guides us, and we are to follow Him in everything—listening, obeying, and trusting Him to lead us safely.
Let’s Pray Together
Thank You, Jesus, for being our Master. Thank You for leading and guiding us every day. Help
us to trust You and follow wherever You lead. We love You! Amen.
