Happy Heart
Adapted from the book
How Great is Our God
by Louie Giglio
Good morning!
Today’s Scripture is:
“A happy heart makes good medicine.”
Proverbs 17:22 ICB
So, let’s talk about laughter.
Have you ever thought about the fact that you must be taught how to speak a language, but you don’t have to be taught how to laugh? You were born knowing how to laugh.
Babies laugh beginning at about three months old. They don’t learn to say dada or mama until much later.
Well laughter is God’s gift to us. It heals our heart and gives us joy. The Bible even says in Ecclesiastes 3:4 that there is a time to laugh.
But when can laughter hurt? When we laugh AT someone rather than WITH someone.
We must never use laughter to hurt others or make fun of them.
Luke 6:31 tells us to treat other people like we would want to be treated. Always remember that nobody likes to be laughed at.
We can use this gift when we share a funny story to make a sad friend laugh. We can cheer them up! So, let’s remember to be kind and loving in everything we do, even our laughter.
Let’s Pray Together
Father God, please plant seeds of kindness in our hearts. Help them grow so big that we just have to share kindness with everyone we meet. We love You. Amen.
