Perfect Creation
Adapted from the book
How Great is Our God
by Louie Giglio
Good morning!
Today’s Scripture is:
Then God said, “Let there be lights in the sky to separate day from night.
These lights will be used for signs, seasons, days, and years.”
Genesis 1:14 (ICB)
Today we’ll continue with our science theme—learning how God perfectly created our
earth.
The moon is more than just a big, dusty rock hanging in the sky. It gives us ocean waves and 24-hour days. It helps keep our planet from getting too hot or too cold. And itmakes sure we have just the right amount of sunlight.
How does it do that? Gravity!
The moon has gravity. It’s not as strong as Earth’s gravity, but it still pulls on the Earth.
This pull causes tides, which are the rising and falling of the oceans each day.
The moon’s gravity also slows down the Earth’s spin, giving us 24-hour days instead of only about six! (Just imagine—if days were only six hours long, a year would have more than 1,000 days! That’s a lot of extra school days!)
As you can see, God took care of an amazing number of details when He created the earth for us to live on. He knew exactly what the earth needed—and He knows exactly what we need each day too.
Let’s pray and thank Him for taking care of us and the beautiful world He made.
Let’s Pray Together
Father God, You are amazing in how You have taken care of us and the earth where we live. Help us remember You today as we go through our day and trust in Your perfect care for us. Help us be kind and loving to everyone we meet today. We love You. Amen.
