Good morning, grandchildren!
I wish I were with you right now so I could give you a
great big hug and tell you how much I love you!
Today’s Scripture is:
“Then Gideon built an altar there to the Lord and called it The Lord Is Peace.”
—Judges 6:24
Today we’re talking about: The Lord Is Peace — Jehovah Shalom (jeh-HO-vuh sha-LOME). Peace means being free from trouble or fighting. It means feeling calm, safe, and settled on the inside—even when things around us don’t feel calm at all.
A quick picture to help: In Gideon’s story, God asked him to do something that felt scary and much bigger than he felt ready for. Gideon could have stayed afraid, but when God reminded him that He was with him, Gideon trusted God. That’s when Gideon learned something very important—God doesn’t just give peace, He IS peace.
The best part: Have you ever tried to put a puzzle together, but some of the pieces were missing? It can feel frustrating and uncomfortable. But when you finally find the missing piece and it fits perfectly, everything feels right and complete again.
That’s what shalom—God’s peace—feels like. It’s more than quiet. It’s the feeling that God is with you and that nothing is missing, even when life feels confusing.
Let’s talk about the Fruit of the Spirit—the good things God grows in our hearts when we follow Him. One of those fruits is peace. When we choose to trust God, the Holy Spirit helps our hearts stay calm instead of worried.
Let’s Pray Together
Father,
Thank You for being Jehovah Shalom. Thank You for giving us peace when we feel scared, worried, or unsure. Help us trust You and walk in Your peace today.
We love You. Amen.
