Good morning, grandchildren!

I wish I were with you right now so I could give you a
great big hug and tell you how much I love you!

Today’s Scripture is:

“The Lord is my light.”
—Psalm 27:1

Today we’re talking about: The Lord Is My Light — Jehovah Ori (jeh-HO-vuh or-EE). There is a Bible story about a man named Solomon, who became king over God’s people. One day, God told Solomon He would answer his prayer.

A quick picture to help: Solomon could have asked for riches, power, or fame—but instead, Solomon asked God for wisdom so he could lead God’s people well.

God was very pleased with Solomon’s choice. Because Solomon followed God’s wisdom, he ruled the people wisely and made good decisions. Solomon chose to walk in God’s light instead of his own ideas.

The best part: The Bible also says in Psalm 119:105, “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.”

Have you ever been in the dark and needed a flashlight to see where you were going? Without light, it’s easy to trip or get lost. But when the light turns on, you can see clearly where to step.

That’s what God is like in our lives. Jehovah Ori is our light. He shows us the right way to go and helps us make wise choices. God gives us His light through His Word, the Bible, and through His gentle guidance in our hearts.

Let’s Pray Together

Father,

Thank You for being our light. Thank You for giving us wisdom and direction, just like a flashlight in the dark. Help us listen for Your voice and follow Your light in our hearts today.

We love You! Amen.

Today’s Question:

What is one way you can let God’s Word be a light for you today—maybe by reading a verse, praying, or choosing to obey Him?
