Good morning, grandchildren!

I wish I were with you right now so I could give you a
great big hug and tell you how much I love you!

Today’s Scripture is:

“God said to Moses, ‘I am who I am.
When you go to the people of Israel, tell them,
“I AM” has sent me to you.’”

—Exodus 3:14 (ICB)

Today we’re talking about: Jehovah: I AM. Today we’re learning a very special name of God: Jehovah—I AM.

A quick picture to help: This story comes from the time when God called Moses to lead His people—the Israelites—out of slavery in Egypt.

One day, while Moses was taking care of sheep, he saw something strange. There was a bush on fire… but it wasn’t burning up! The flames didn’t make it turn to ashes. And then something even more surprising happened: The bush spoke!

It was God talking to Moses. God used this amazing moment to get Moses’ attention. When Moses asked God, “Who should I say sent me?” God answered, “Tell them, ‘I AM’ sent you.”

The best part: So, what does I AM mean? It means God is:

  • Never changing

  • Always the same, forever

  • All-powerful

  • Never tired or hungry

  • Without a beginning or an end

  • A God who loves His people and helps them

God was telling Moses—and us—that He is everything we will ever need. Whenever you feel unsure, scared, or weak, remember: The great “I AM” is with you.

Interesting fact: Every time someone asks you your name and you begin with, “I am…,” you are saying words that connect to one of God’s names!

Let’s Pray Together

Dear God,

Thank You that You never change. Thank You for loving us, helping us, and always being everything we need.

We love You. Amen.

Today’s Question:

Which part of who God is—His strength, His love, His help—do you need most today?
