Time

Adapted from the book How Great is Our God by Louie Giglio

Good morning!

Joke for the Day:
What time is it when the clock strikes 13?
Time to get a new clock! ⏰

Today’s Scripture is:
“I will make the shadow cast by the sun go back the ten steps it has gone down…”
Isaiah 38:7–8 (NIV)

Time

How do you tell time?

You probably look at a clock, a watch, or maybe even your phone.

But long ago, people didn’t have any of those! Instead, they used something called a sundial. A sundial tells time by using the sun. As the sun moves across the sky, it makes a shadow move across markings that show the hours.

Because the earth keeps turning the same way every day, the shadow always moves in the same direction.

Well… almost always.

The Bible tells about a time when that shadow did something amazing—it went backwards! King Hezekiah was very sick, and he prayed and asked God to heal him. God promised that Hezekiah would live 15 more years. To prove His promise, God did something only He could do—He made the shadow move backward!

Can you imagine seeing time go in reverse?

That miracle showed that God is in control of everything—even time itself. The sun, the earth, and even the shadows all obey Him.

And here’s the best part: if God can control something as big as time, you can trust Him with your life too. Every promise He makes is true.

Let’s Pray Together

Lord, You are amazing! You made the sun, the earth, and even time itself. Thank You that we can trust You to keep Your promises. We love You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Question for the day:

What is one promise from God that helps you trust Him more?
