Melting Hearts

Adapted from the book How Great is Our God by Louie Giglio

Good morning!

Joke for the Day:
Why did the volcano break up with the mountain?
Because it kept having explosive feelings!

Today’s Scripture is:
“The glory of the Lord looked like a
consuming fire on top of the mountain.”
Exodus 24:17 (NIV)

Melting Hearts

Have you ever seen a volcano erupt? It’s one of the most powerful sights on earth!

Deep underground, there is melted rock called magma. When it pushes up through the earth and spills out onto the surface, it’s called lava. Lava is incredibly hot—hot enough to glow bright orange and melt almost anything in its path!

Sometimes lava moves slowly, creeping along inch by inch. Other times, it rushes down a mountain at amazing speeds. As it cools, it hardens into rock. Over time, lava can even build up and form entire islands—like the Hawaiian Islands!

That’s how powerful God’s creation is.

But did you know God does something even more amazing?

He can melt something much harder than rock—our hearts.

Sometimes our hearts can get hard. Maybe we feel angry, stubborn, or don’t want to listen. But God’s love is strong and gentle at the same time. It softens us, changes us, and helps us love Him and others the way we should.

God’s love is big enough for everyone. It’s strong enough that nothing can take it away from you. And it’s so powerful that He sent His Son, Jesus, to save us.

When we let His love in, it can change everything.

Let’s Pray Together

Father God, thank You for loving us so much. Please soften our hearts and help us to follow You every day. We love You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Question for the day:

Is there anything in your heart today that you need to let God soften?✨
