Light

Adapted from the book How Great is Our God by Louie Giglio

Good morning!

Joke for the Day:

Why did the kid bring a flashlight to school?

Because he wanted to be the light of the world!

Today’s Scripture is:

“Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.”
Psalm 90:12 (NIV)

Light.

Daytime comes. Nighttime follows. Then morning shows up again. It happens over and over, and most of the time we don’t even stop to think about it.

So what’s really going on?

The Earth is always moving! Even right now, it’s spinning like a basketball on a fingertip. This spinning is called rotation. One full spin takes about 24 hours. When our side of the Earth is turned toward the sun, it’s bright and sunny—that’s daytime. When our side turns away from the sun, it gets dark—that’s nighttime. As the Earth keeps turning, light and darkness trade places.

That’s how we get mornings and evenings.

It may look like the sun is traveling across the sky, but actually, the Earth is the one doing the turning!

Here’s something important to remember:

Every single person on Earth gets the same 24 hours in a day. No one gets extra. No one gets less.

That’s why Psalm 90:12 asks God to help us “number our days.” That means we should pay attention to how we use our time. Every day is a gift from Him.

It doesn’t matter how many daylight hours you have. What matters most is how much of God’s light shines from your heart. You can shine His light by being kind, telling the truth, helping someone who’s hurting, or sharing the good news about Him.

So today, don’t just let the hours slip by. Use them to love God and love people.

Let’s Pray Together

Dear God, thank You for creating day and night. Thank You for giving us time and filling our lives with Your light. Help us use our hours wisely and shine for You wherever we go. We love You. Amen.

Question for the day:

How can you use your time today to show God’s love to someone else? ✨
