Living Water
Adapted from the book How Great is Our God by Louie Giglio
Good morning!
Joke of the Day:
Why did the desert go to church?
Because it was thirsty for the Word!😄
Today’s Scripture is:
“Whoever drinks the water I give
will never be thirsty again.”
Gospel of John 4:14 (ICB)
Deserts are extremely dry places. Some deserts receive less than 10 inches of rain in an entire year! That doesn’t sound like enough water for anything to live—but many creatures call the desert home.
God gave desert animals special survival skills. Some, like bats, foxes, and scorpions, rest during the blazing daytime heat and search for food at night when it’s cooler. The peccary, which looks a bit like a wild pig, can munch on juicy cactus—even with sharp spines—to get moisture. And the tiny thorny devil lizard has incredible skin that gathers water from rain or damp ground and channels it straight to its mouth.
Isn’t it amazing how God takes care of His creation?
People can feel thirsty too—but not just for water. Sometimes our hearts feel empty. We may long for love, forgiveness, or someone to truly understand us.
In Gospel of John chapter 4, Jesus met a Samaritan woman at a well. She came to draw water, but Jesus offered her something much better—“living water.” He was talking about the life and truth that only He can give. When we believe in Him, He fills our hearts with God’s love so completely that we don’t have to search anywhere else.
Jesus satisfies the deepest thirst inside us.
If you ever feel empty inside, remember—you can go straight to Him. He is ready to fill you with His peace, joy, and forgiveness.
Let’s Pray Together
Dear Father, thank You for caring for every creature in the desert and for caring for us even more. When our hearts feel thirsty, remind us to come to Jesus. Fill us with Your love and truth each day. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
