Tree Colors

Every fall something amazing happens. The bright greens of summer trees turn into shining yellows, glowing oranges, deep reds, and even purples. Have you ever wondered why?
All spring and summer, leaves are busy making food for the tree using a green chemical called chlorophyll. That chlorophyll gives leaves their green color. But yellow and orange colors are hiding in the leaves too—you just can’t see them because the green covers them up.
When the days get shorter and cooler, the leaves stop making food. The green fades away, and suddenly the yellows and oranges shine through. In some trees, new changes happen that create beautiful reds and purples. God designed trees with all those colors tucked inside!
If you look around in the fall, you can see how much God loves color. He painted the flowers, the sunsets, the oceans, and the forests. And guess what? He also created people in many beautiful colors—different hair, different eyes, different skin tones. Every single one is part of His wonderful design.
Sometimes people choose friends who only look or act like they do. But our verse reminds us that if we belong to Jesus, we are all one in Him. That means what matters most about us is the same—we are God’s children!
The Bible also says in Psalm 139:14 that we are “fearfully and wonderfully made.” That’s true for you—and it’s true for everyone else, too. Let’s celebrate the colors God made, not just in the trees, but in people!

Father God, when we see people who are different from us, help us remember that they are Your special creation, just like we are. Thank You for making each of us wonderfully unique. We love You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
