I Am: 40 Bible Stories, Devotions, and Prayers About the Names of God
by Diane Stortz

Good morning, grandchildren!

I wish I were with you right now so I could give you a
great big hug and tell you how much I love you!

Today’s Scripture is:

“Know that the Lord is God. It is He who made us,
and we are His; we are His people.” —Psalm 100:3

Today we’re talking about: Creator: Elohim (God Most High). Another wonderful name for God is Elohim (EL-o-HEEM). Elohim means God is the highest—there is NO ONE better!

In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth and everything in it. Only God can do that. That’s why He is Elohim, the greatest Creator.

A quick picture to help Do you like to create things—like crafts, cookies, drawings, or art projects? When we make something, we usually need supplies. We need ingredients to bake cookies, or paper, glue, and markers to make a craft.

But God created the whole world out of nothing. He didn’t need supplies. He just spoke… and everything came into existence.

The best part Every time you make something today—even a simple drawing or a little project—remember: you are using the creativity God gave you. And your Creator, Elohim, loves you more than anything else He made.

Let’s Pray Together

Dear God,

There is NO ONE higher or greater than You. You created ALL things, and You created us.

We love You. Amen.

Today’s Question:

What is one thing you see today that reminds you of God the Creator?
