El Emeth

Adapted from the book
I Am: 40 Bible Stories, Devotions, and Prayers About the Names of God
by Diane Stortz

Good morning, grandchildren!

I wish I were with you right now so I could give you a
great big hug and tell you how much I love you!

Today’s Scripture is:

“Whoever asks for a blessing in the land will be blessed by the God of truth.”
—Isaiah 65:16

Today we’re talking about: The God of Truth: El Emeth. Today we’re learning another wonderful name of God: El Emeth (EL-met). It means the God of Truth.

God ALWAYS tells the truth. He never lies—not even once. Everything He says can be trusted.

A quick picture to help Adam and Eve, who were the first two people God created. They walked and talked with God in the garden. God told them the truth about the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil—He told them what would happen if they disobeyed.

But the enemy of God came and told Adam and Eve a lie. He tried to make them believe that God wasn’t telling the truth. Sadly, they believed the enemy’s lie instead of believing God. That choice hurt them because sin always has consequences.

The best part Even today, we face the same choice Adam and Eve had: Will we believe what God says is true, or believe lies?

When you’re not sure what to believe, remember this: God’s words are always true. If you read something confusing, hear something unkind, or feel unsure, go back to what God says. His truth never changes.

Let’s Pray Together

Father,

Thank You that You always have a good plan for our lives. Thank You for never lying and always telling the truth. Help us be like You today by speaking truth with kindness.

We love You. Amen.

Today’s Question:

Can you think of one true thing God says about you in His Word?
