Creator

Good morning, grandchildren!

I wish I were with you right now so I could give you a
great big hug and tell you how much I love you!

Today’s Scripture is:

“In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.”

—Genesis 1:1

Today we’re talking about something really important: The Creator.

In the very beginning of the Bible, when God created everything, He also created the first two people. Do you remember their names? Yes—Adam and Eve!

What happened in the beginning? God created Adam and Eve to live in a beautiful garden. But they made a very bad choice. They listened to God’s enemy (the devil) and were tricked into disobeying God. God had told them not to eat from the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil. They ate it anyway. Then, they tried to blame others. Adam blamed Eve, and Eve blamed the snake.

Why does God want us to obey? God ALWAYS knows what’s best for us because He created us. When we choose to follow His plan and obey Him, our lives are always better. Because Adam and Eve disobeyed, they could no longer live in the beautiful garden.

A quick picture to help Think about the clothes you wear. Before God sent Adam and Eve out of the garden, He lovingly provided clothes for them. Even though they made a mistake, God still loved them. He made sure they had what they needed. God always provides for us, too.

The best part When you make a mistake—and everyone does—remember that God still loves you. God’s love doesn’t stop when we mess up. You can always talk to Him, ask for help, and choose to obey Him next time.

Let’s Pray Together

Dear God,

Thank You for loving us even when we make mistakes. Help us obey You, trust You, and remember that You always take care of us.

We love You. Amen.

Today’s Question:

What’s one way you can choose to obey God today?
