Eyebrows
Adapted from the book How Great is Our God by Louie Giglio
Good morning!
Joke of the Day:
Why didn’t the eyebrow ever get in trouble?
Because it always raised the right questions!😄
Today’s Scripture is:
“Happy thoughts make you cheerful.”
Proverbs 15:30 (ICB)
Today we’re going to talk about something we all have—eyebrows!
Whether they’re thin and light or thick and bushy, eyebrows aren’t just for looks. Practically speaking, they help keep sweat and water from running into your eyes. But eyebrows are also great for something else… talking!
Think about all the things your eyebrows can say:
Both eyebrows raised high say, “I’m surprised!”
One eyebrow raised might say, “Hmm… I’m not sure I believe that.”
Eyebrows pulled down and scrunched together can say,
“I’m confused, annoyed, or angry.”
When you say something without using words, that’s called nonverbal communication. That means your face, body, and actions are doing the talking.
Think about this:
What are you saying when you smile at someone?
What are you saying when you frown?
What are you saying when you pretend you didn’t see someone at all?
The Bible tells us in 1 Timothy 4:12 (ICB) that we should be a good example to others in the way we speak. That includes the “conversations” we have without ever opening our mouths.
Make sure your face shows kindness.
Smile to let people know they matter.
Look people in the eyes to show respect—not by rolling your eyes.
Remember, you can say a lot about your heart and about the God you serve—even without saying a word.
Let’s Pray Together
Father God, help me to be careful not just with my words, but also with the things I say without speaking. Let my face and my actions show my love and Your love to the world. Amen.
