Running Out of Fuel

Adapted from the book How Great is Our God by Louie Giglio

Good morning!

Joke of the Day:
Why did the star go to bed early?
Because it was burned out!
⭐😄

Today’s Scripture is:

“Come to me,
all of you who are weary
and carry heavy burdens,
and I will give you rest.”
Matthew 11:28 (NLT)

When you gaze up at the night sky, you might notice a reddish light and think, That has to be Mars—the Red Planet! Sometimes it is. But other times, that glowing light is actually a star called Antares.

Antares is a huge red supergiant star. It’s about 700 times bigger than our sun and shines more than 10,000 times brighter. A thick cloud of reddish dust surrounds it, which is why people often confuse it with Mars.

Scientists say that one day Antares will explode in a supernova. That happens when a star starts to run out of fuel—the gases it needs to keep shining.

Have you ever felt like that? Like your tank is empty and you might blow up?

  • Maybe you’ve used up all your patience.

  • Maybe your anger is bubbling over.

  • Maybe problems just keep coming.

  • Or maybe you’ve been so busy with school, family, chores, and activities that you feel completely worn out.

When you feel empty like that, don’t explode—run to God.

God asks us to come to Him when we are tired. He gives us more than just sleep (even though sleep is important). He gives us rest in our hearts—rest from worrying, from trying to solve everything on our own, and from carrying heavy feelings by ourselves.

God fills us back up again. He gives us the strength to keep going, to make good choices, and to keep following Him.

Let’s Pray Together

Father God, when life feels too busy and we feel worn out, remind us to stop and spend time with You. Thank You for giving us rest and strength. We love You.
In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.

Question for the day:

What is one thing you can do today to slow down and spend time with God when you feel tired or overwhelmed?
