Spice of God’s Word

Adapted from the book How Great is Our God by Louie Giglio

Good morning!

Joke of the Day: Why did the pepper bring a jacket?
Because it was a little chili! 🌶️😄

Today’s Scripture is:

“Let the teaching of Christ live in you richly.”
Colossians 3:16 (ICB)

Spice of God’s Word

Do you enjoy foods with a little kick? Spices are what make food taste interesting, and one of the most common is pepper. Many people are surprised to learn that peppers are actually fruits—just like tomatoes!

But the pepper you sprinkle on your dinner is not the same kind as bell peppers or jalapeños. Table pepper comes from small fruits called peppercorns. These are dried and crushed to make the black powder we use for seasoning.

Peppers come in many varieties. Some are mild and sweet, like bell peppers, while others—like chili or jalapeño peppers—can be very hot. They can be eaten raw, cooked, dried into spices like paprika, or mixed into other foods. Some people even enjoy adding a tiny bit of chili pepper to hot chocolate!

No matter how it’s used, pepper makes food more exciting. A meal without seasoning can be plain, but a little spice makes a big difference.

God’s Word does the same thing for our lives. The Bible is full of wisdom, courage, challenges, and hope. It tells the greatest story ever told—how much God loves us. When we allow God’s Word to live in our hearts, it helps guide our choices and adds joy and meaning to our days.

So let God’s Word fill your heart and add flavor to your life.

Let’s Pray Together

Father God, thank You for the Bible. Thank You for the stories that teach us, the examples that guide us, and the promises that remind us of Your love. We love You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Question for the day:

What is one way you can let God’s Word be a bigger part of your day today?
