Earthworms
Adapted from the book
How Great is Our God
by Louie Giglio
Good morning!
Today’s Scripture is:
“We are God’s masterpiece.
He has created us new in Christ Jesus,
so we can do the good things
He planned for us long ago.”
Ephesians 2:10 (NLT)
Earthworms
Today we’re going to talk about worms and the important job they do in our world.
God made worms in a very unusual way. They don’t have eyes, arms, or legs—so getting around isn’t easy! Worms also can’t stay in the sun for very long. If they do, they dry out and can die. That’s why earthworms work hard to stay underground.
Have you ever noticed worms on the sidewalk after a big rain? They don’t stay there long—they wiggle back into the dirt as fast as they can. God gave worms tiny bristles on their bodies that help them grip the soil, and a slippery coating that helps them slide through the dirt.
And guess what? As worms move through the ground, they actually help the soil! They make little tunnels that let air and water get in, which helps plants grow better. Even without arms, legs, or eyes, worms do an important job God designed them to do.
Here’s another crazy fact: In Australia there is an earthworm that can grow over 10 feet long!!
Now think about this—if a worm can do all that, just imagine what you can do with the arms, legs, and eyes God gave you!
You can use your eyes to see the beauty of God’s creation—and to notice people who are hurting or need help.
You can use your arms to give a hug, help someone who falls, or serve others.
You can use your legs to go where God sends you—to help, to love, and to tell others about Him.
You are God’s masterpiece, created on purpose, and God has good things planned for you!
Let’s Pray Together
Father God, thank You for Your perfect design. Thank You for making us special and for giving us ways to love and help others. Help us use our bodies and our lives to show Your love every day. We love You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
