Leave a Loving Trail
Adapted from the book
How Great is Our God
by Louie Giglio
Good morning!
Today’s Scripture is:
“Live a life of love.
Love other people just as Christ loved us.
Christ gave Himself for us.
Hewas a sweet-smelling offering and sacrifice to God.”
Ephesians 5:2 (ICB)
Leave a Loving Trail
Today we’re going to talk about a very unusual helper that God created—a dog with floppy ears and a wrinkly face!
With its droopy ears, saggy skin, and drooly mouth, the bloodhound might not look like a superhero. But this dog is one of the greatest trackers in the world. For almost 200 years, police officers have trusted bloodhounds to help find lost people and catch criminals.
God designed the bloodhound with some incredible tools. Its nose can smell about 1,000 times better than a human’s. Those long ears drag along the ground, pushing smells up toward its nose. Even the loose, wrinkled skin helps hold onto scents. A bloodhound can follow a smell that’s more than 300 hours old—that’s almost two weeks!
Even with all the modern machines people have invented, nothing tracks a trail quite like the bloodhound God made.
Now here’s something important to think about:
Your life leaves a trail too.
It’s not a smell that a dog could follow, but it’s a trail made by your words, your actions, and how you treat others. That trail should help point people—not just to you—but to God.
How do we do that?
By choosing kindness wherever we go.
By speaking loving words instead of hurtful ones.
By staying away from gossip and selfish choices.
When we live like Jesus, our lives give off a “sweet smell” of love that others can notice.
Let’s Pray Together
Father God, help us not fill this world with unkind words or selfish actions. Teach us to spread love and kindness everywhere we go. We love You. Amen.
