Glow

Adapted from the book
How Great is Our God
by Louie Giglio

Good morning!

Today’s Scripture is:

“My God brightens the darkness for me.”
Psalm 18:28 (ICB)

Glow

Today, let’s begin with a joke:

  • Question: Why did the glow in the dark sticker go to school?

  • Answer: Because he wanted to brighten everyone’s day.

Here’s a little science lesson about what makes things glow. There are special things called phosphors that soak up sunlight or other energy, and over time they slowly release that energy as light. That’s what makes toys, stickers, or other things glow in the dark!

There’s also something else that can make things glow. Have you ever seen a glow stick? You have to snap it so that two chemicals mix together, and that creates a bright glow.

Sometimes, our lives need a little glow too. When our day feels dark with sadness, worry, or fear, that’s when we need the glow of God to brighten it up. His light can chase away any sadness. His joy can make fear run away. His love can shine so brightly that our worries disappear.

God doesn’t just glow in the darkness—He chases the darkness away!

Let’s Pray Together

Father God, Sometimes our world looks dark. Help us to talk to You and let Your light shine in our lives. We trust You because we know You are always in control. Thank You for Your love, Your joy, and Your courage. We love You. Amen.

Today’s Question:

Can you think of a time when you felt sad,
scared, or worried? How could asking
God to shine His light in your heart help you feel better?
