God’s Design
Adapted from the book
How Great is Our God
by Louie Giglio
Good morning!
Today’s Scripture is:
“The sun has one kind of beauty.
The moon has another beauty, and the stars have another.
And each star is different in its beauty.”
1 Corinthians 15:41 (ICB)
Today, let’s talk about stars.
There is a star called Pollux. Pollux is HUGE! It is about 10 times bigger than our sun and many times brighter. It is so far away that its light takes about 34 years to reach Earth.
Scientists call Pollux a red (or orange red) giant because of its warm, reddish color.
Thousands of years, sailors have looked at bright stars like Pollux to help guide them when they traveled at night.
God created Pollux to shine. It doesn’t shine the same way the sun does, or the moon does—but it is still beautiful in its own way.
And that’s how God made you, too.
Sometimes you might look at yourself and think, “I don’t like this about me,” or “I’m not as good at that as someone else.” But God made you on purpose. From your head down to your toes, He designed you exactly the way He wanted. And when He was done, He said, “Magnificent. Fantastic. Beautiful.”
You are beautiful in your own fearfully-and-wonderfully-made-by-God way.
Just like Pollux, God created you to shine.
Let’s Pray Together
Father God, Teach us to see the beauty You have created all around us. And especially help us see the beauty You have placed inside us. Thank You for making each of us on purpose. We love You. Amen.
