Goodness

Good morning, grandchildren!

I wish I were with you right now so I could give you a
great big hug and tell you how much I love you!

Our scripture for today is

“But the Spirit gives love, joy, peace, patience, kindness,
goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.”

— Galatians 5:22–23a (ICB)

GOODNESS

Goodness means being morally good and doing what is right — even when no one is watching.

But how do we know what’s good? God has put something inside each of us — a little “knower” — that helps us tell the difference between right and wrong.

Think about this:

Would you ever push a little kid down on the playground?

Of course not! You know that isn’t good.

But what if you see someone fall down? Would it be good to help them up and ask if they’re okay? Yes! Deep inside, you know that’s the right thing to do.

When we pray and stay close to God, His Spirit helps our “knower” work even better so we can show goodness every day.

Let’s Pray Together

Father God,

Thank You that Your Spirit helps us know what is good. Please help us show goodness today to everyone around us. We love You.

Amen.

Today’s Question:

What do people mean when they say,
“Oh my goodness?”

It’s an expression of shock, surprise, or disbelief.
