Kindness
Good morning, grandchildren!
I wish I were with you right now so I could give you a
great big hug and tell you how much I love you!
“But the Spirit gives love, joy, peace, patience, kindness,
goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.”
— Galatians 5:22–23a (ICB)
Today we’re talking about kindness. What is kindness?
Kindness is the quality of being friendly, generous, and considerate.
It means you care about other people and treat them in a loving way.
Sometimes it helps to understand a word by thinking about its opposite.
The opposite of kindness is being mean or hateful.
And let’s be real—sometimes it’s hard not to be mean when we feel angry or upset.
But God is very clear in the Bible:
He doesn’t want us to stay angry. Why?
Because staying mad hurts us on the inside—in our minds and even in our bodies.
God knows that when we don’t forgive, our hearts start to feel heavy and grouchy.
But when we keep a kind attitude in our hearts, it helps us:
think kind thoughts
feel kind feelings
do kind actions
Kindness doesn’t just happen on the outside. It starts inside our hearts.
So today, let’s ask God to help us be kind and forgive quickly, just like Jesus does.
Let’s Pray Together
Father God,
We know You are a kind Father who always wants what is best for us. Help us to be kind to others and quick to forgive whenever we need to.
We love You. Amen.
