When Life Feels Hard

Good morning!
Today’s Scripture is:
“The Lord gave me what I had. And the Lord has taken it away. Praise the name of the Lord.”
— Job 1:21 (ICB)
About 400 years after the flood, we meet a man named Job. Job was a lot like Noah he lived the way God wanted him to live. The Bible even calls him blameless!
One day, Satan told God that Job only loved Him because God had given Job so many good things—like family, land, and riches. Satan thought if all those blessings were taken away, Job would stop loving God.
So, God allowed Satan to test Job—but with limits. God was still in control the whole time.
Job lost his animals, his home, and even his health. His body was covered in painful sores. To make things worse, his friends gave him bad advice and didn’t understand what God was doing.
But through all of it… Job did not blame God.
That’s amazing.
This story can be hard to understand, and sometimes life feels hard too. But here’s the important truth: God is sovereign. That means He is in charge of everything—even when things don’t make sense.
Satan could only do what God allowed. He had to ask permission! That shows us that God is always in control, even over our enemies.
When life feels hard, keep looking for God. He is there—even in the tough moments. And where God is, there is always hope… and even joy.
Let’s Pray Together
Father God, thank You for being in control of everything. Thank You for protecting us and setting limits on what the enemy can do. Help us trust You, even when life is hard. Thank You for Job’s example. We love You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Why did Job keep going?
Because he trusted God—no matter what.
