How Great is Our God
by Louie Giglio
Good morning!
Today’s Scripture is:
Think about the things that are good and worthy of praise.
Think about the things that are true and honorable and
right and pure and beautiful and respected.
Phil. 4:8 ICB
I’ve heard people say, “You are what you eat.” The saying was meant to try to motivate themselves to make better food choices. Like choosing vegetables rather than candy.
Vegetables are good for your body while candy is not.
Well, our science topic today involves pink flamingos. You know, those funny birds with long legs and pink feathers. I bet you didn’t know that baby flamingos are born with grey feathers. For their feathers to turn pink they must eat shrimp and algae which contains beta carotene to produce pink feathers. Hence the saying, ‘You are what you eat.”
I wonder how that could apply to us. I doubt we will turn pink anytime soon, but the things we take in--the things we see, hear, and think about—have a huge impact on us.
Remember, whatever you focus your mind on grows.
Whenever we are singing along with a song, we need to listen to the words and ask ourselves this question. How would God feel about what we are singing? What about what we look at on TV or the internet? What would God think?
Or are our thoughts STINKIN THINKIN?
We need to start thinking about what we are thinking about.
That’s why today’s scripture tells us what to think about and concentrate on. Think about the things that are good and worthy of praise. Think about the things that are true and honorable and right and pure and beautiful and respected. Our heavenly Father knows what is good for us. Not just what to put in our mouths for food, but what to put in our minds for Spiritual food.
Let’s Pray Together
Father, Thank You for Your perfect plan for our lives. What we put in our mouths, and our minds keeps us healthy and happy, but more importantly it must please You. Show us each day what to listen to and what to look at so that we can remain healthy in our mind, body, and spirit. We love You! Amen.
