God’s Thunder
Adapted from the book How Great is Our God by Louie Giglio
Good morning!
Joke for the Day:
What did one lightning bolt say to the other?
“You’re shocking!
Today’s Scripture is:
“When he thunders, the waters in the heavens roar;
he makes clouds rise from the ends of the earth.
He sends lightning with the rain and brings out the wind from his storehouses.”
Jeremiah 10:13 (NIV)
God’s Thunder⚡
CRASH! BOOM!
Have you ever been sitting in your house when a thunderstorm rolls in and suddenly the windows rattle?
The sky flashes, and a loud rumble follows that makes you jump. That big booming sound is called thunder.
Thunder begins with lightning. When lightning flashes through the sky, it heats the air around it incredibly fast—hotter than the surface of the sun! The air gets so hot that it quickly pushes outward, almost like a tiny explosion in the sky.
Then the air cools and rushes back together again. All that fast-moving air creates the rumbling sound we hear as thunder.
Thunderstorms can seem huge and powerful. The sky flashes with lightning, rain pours down, and thunder rolls across the clouds.
But here’s something amazing to remember: God made all of it. The God who created lightning, thunder, wind, and rain is far more powerful than any storm. And that powerful God is the same one who loves you and watches over you every day.
So when you hear thunder booming across the sky, you don’t have to feel afraid. Instead, you can remember that the Creator of the storm is always in control—and He is taking care of you.
Let’s Pray Together
God, when we see lightning flash and hear thunder rumble, help us remember how great and powerful You are. Thank You for loving us and watching over us in every storm. We love You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
