Spacewalk
Adapted from the book How Great is Our God by Louie Giglio
Good morning!
Joke for the Day:
Why didn’t the sun go to school?
Because it already had a million degrees! ☀️
Today’s Scripture is:
“I am the light of the world.
Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness but will have the light of life.”
John 8:12 (NIV)
Spacewalk
Sometimes people say something is “a walk in the park.”
That means it’s very easy to do. Think about playing a video game you’ve already beaten many times. Going back to the first level might feel simple.
But trying something new for the very first time can be really challenging. One of the most difficult things people have ever done was landing on the moon. In 1961, President John F. Kennedy told the country he wanted the United States to send astronauts to the moon and bring them safely home before the end of the decade.
At the time, that sounded like a huge challenge. Eight years later, the spacecraft from the Apollo 11 Moon Landing reached the moon. Astronauts Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin were preparing to land.
But things didn’t go perfectly.
Warning alarms started sounding because the computer was overloaded. Their radio communication with Mission Control kept cutting in and out. And their spacecraft was running low on fuel. They had just one chance to land safely.
It definitely wasn’t easy—but they succeeded and made history.
Following Jesus is also a mission.
The Bible teaches us how Jesus lived—how He loved God and cared for others. When we choose to be kind, forgive people, and help those around us, we follow His example.
That mission isn’t always simple.
Sometimes we make mistakes or face problems. But we never have to face them alone.
Astronauts depended on Mission Control to guide them. We can talk to God anytime through prayer, and He always listens.
Following Jesus may not always feel like a walk in the park, but it is the greatest adventure we could ever have.
Let’s Pray Together
Father God, help us follow Jesus today. Help us speak kindly, help others, and love people the way He did. Thank You for always hearing our prayers and guiding our steps. We love You. Amen.
