Gossip

Adapted from the book
How Great is Our God

Good morning!

Today’s Scripture is:

“When you talk, you should always be kind and wise.
Then you will be able to answer everyone in the way you should.”

Colossians 4:6 (ICB)

Joke of the Day: Why did the nose get in trouble?
Because it couldn’t mind its own sniffing business!

Today’s Science Lesson: Sneezing

Everybody sneezes—and sneezes usually sound about the same! A sneeze is your body’s way of getting rid of something that’s irritating your nose. Sometimes it’s because you’re sick, but many sneezes happen because of allergies like dust, pollen, or pet fur. Some people even sneeze when they step into bright sunlight!

When something bothers your nose, special nerves send a message to your brain. Your brain tells different body parts to work together—your chest, tummy muscles, throat, and even your eyelids.

They all work at the same time to make a sneeze happen.

And sneezes are powerful! When you sneeze, tiny droplets can fly out really fast and travel far.

That’s why it’s important to always cover your mouth and nose when you sneeze.

The Big Connection: Gossip

Sneezes travel fast—but you know what else travels fast? Gossip. Gossip is spreading rumors or saying mean things about other people, usually when they aren’t around. Some of the time, gossip isn’t even true, and it can really hurt others.

The Bible tells us that gossip is a sin, just like lying or fighting (Romans 1:29). God cares a lot about our words because words can either hurt people or help them.

Instead of spreading hurtful words, God wants us to spread kind, helpful, and encouraging words.

Let’s Pray Together

Father God, thank You for teaching us what is best for our lives. Please help us control our words. Help us be careful to say only kind, helpful, and good things. We love You. In Jesus Name, Amen.

Today’s Question:

Before you say something about someone else, ask yourself:
Is this kind? Is it true? Is it helpful?
