God Wants to be Your Friend
Good morning, grandchildren!
I wish I were with you right now so I could give you a
great big hug and tell you how much I love you!
“One day Jesus was praying in a certain place.
When he finished, one of his disciples said to him,
‘Lord, teach us to pray...’” — Luke 11:1 (NIV)
When we pray, we’re simply talking to God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. We are saying we believe they are real—even though we can’t see or touch them.
We’re also saying that we want them to be our friends, and we want to be their friends too.
Think about the friends you have at school—you like spending time with them, right? To be good friends with God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit, we get to spend time with them by talking to them.
So today at school, and any time during the day, you can silently pray and talk to them in your mind. Then listen for where they lead your thoughts.
Their thoughts will always be positive and loving—toward you and toward others. Those loving thoughts will bring happiness and joy!
Let’s Pray Together
Father God, Jesus, and Holy Spirit,
Thank you for this day. We ask that You speak to us throughout today and fill our hearts and minds with Your loving thoughts so we can share Your love with those around us.
We love You. Amen.
