The 23rd Psalm (Part 1)

Good morning!
Joke of the Day:
Why did the sheep bring a pillow to the pasture?
Because the Shepherd said it was nap time!
Let’s continue on with looking at the very famous 23rd Psalm.
Today’s Scripture is
The Lord is my shepherd I shall not want.
He makes me lie down in green pastures.
He leads me beside still waters.
He restores my soul.
He guides me in paths of righteousness
for His namesake.
Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil
for You are with me.
Your rod and Your staff,
they comfort me.
You prepare a table before me
in the presence of my enemies.
You anoint my head with oil
and my cup overflows.
Surely, goodness, and mercy will follow me
all the days of my life
and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
—Psalm 23
I wonder what David meant when he wrote that because God was his shepherd, that he would not want. He might have been talking about the fact that God had always provided everything He needed.
Like when he fought and defeated the giant Goliath, God provided David with courage. He provided David with a strategy on how to defeat him. God provided accuracy of the stone hitting Goliath square in the middle of his forehead knocking him out.
And what about all the times he needed help with those dumb sheep. They would wonder off and get lost, and David needed God’s guidance to find them.
So, as you can see, God had shown David repeatedly that He provided everything that David needed.
And God does that same for you and me. When we ask for His help and even when we don’t, God provides for us. Let’s thank Him now for His provision in our lives.

Father God, You always provide everything that we need. Thank You for caring for us so faithfully. Remind us of this truth every day. We love You. Amen.
