Identity
Good morning, grandchildren!
I wish I were with you right now so I could give you a
great big hug and tell you how much I love you!
Today’s Scripture is:
“Let the earth bring forth living creatures after their kind.”
— Genesis 1:24
Today we are going to talk about identity.
When God created the world, He created animals and gave them the ability to create more animals. They always create the same kind of animal that they are. For instance, when dogs reproduce, they make more dogs. Cats make cats. Birds make birds. They stay in the design for which God created them.
The same is true for plants. If you plant a flower seed, it will produce flowers. If you plant tomato seeds, it will produce tomatoes.
And the same is true for people.
That’s why you probably look something like your parents. And not just look like them but have the same character traits they have. Your parents are kind, therefore, so are you.
Your parents tell the truth, therefore, so should you. You share the same last name.
It’s your identity.
So, the next time you are tempted to be unkind or tell a lie, remember who you are and choose to act like it.
(Fill in your grandchildren’s last name) are kind and honest. We are not mean, and we do not lie. That is who we are.
Let’s Pray Together:
Father God,
Thank You for the wonderful plan that You have for our lives.
Help us to act in ways that please You and please our parents.
We love You.
Amen.
