Gratitude
Good morning, grandchildren!
I wish I were with you right now so I could give you a
great big hug and tell you how much I love you!
“Thank the Lord for He is good.”
— Psalm 118:29
International Children’s Bible (ICB)
The word for the day is Gratitude. The dictionary says gratitude means the quality of being thankful; readiness to show appreciation for and to return kindness.
An example would be, she expressed her gratitude to the family for their support.
Sometimes a similar word is thankful.
Psalm 100:4 (ICB) says, “Come into His city with songs of thanksgiving. Come into His courtyards with songs of praise.”
There are so many things that we can be thankful for! God gives us people who love us, food to eat, and homes to live in. He gives us friends, sunshine, laughter, and even pets that bring us joy.
When we stop to think about all the good things in our lives, our hearts start to feel full — that’s gratitude. And when we take time to thank God, it shows Him that we notice His blessings and are thankful for them.
Today, let’s make a list of all the things that we are thankful or grateful for. It can be big things or small things. Once your list is made, take a few minutes to pray and thank God for all that He has provided.
Let’s Pray Together
Father God,
We are so thankful and grateful for who You are and for all You do in our lives. Help us to always see Your goodness and remember to thank You every day.
Amen.
