Bravery
Good morning, grandchildren!
I wish I were with you right now so I could give you a
great big hug and tell you how much I love you!
— Joshua 1:6, 1:7, and 1:9
You may be asking yourself, “Why did Lolli list three scriptures?
Well, it’s because they all say the same thing! The Lord said this to Joshua:
“Be strong and brave!”
Let’s talk about bravery. Who do you know is very brave? Your dad for sure. What about Papa? He’s brave, too. Many people in the Bible were brave when they did hard things God asked them to do.
Moses went before Pharaoh and told him to let God’s people go.
David killed a bear — and he didn’t even have a gun!
Samson pulled down a huge building, defeating many of God’s enemies.
I wonder if they were scared when they did it?
The Bible tells us that Moses was reluctant to do everything God told him to do. He even asked God to find someone else because he didn’t feel capable. But God empowered him to do what He called him to do.
And that’s true for us today too! Whatever God asks us to do, He will give us the strength and courage to do it. We might feel scared, but God makes us strong and brave.
You might hear God’s still, small voice encouraging you to do something kind — like saying something nice to someone today that you don’t know.
Or maybe being brave could look like letting someone else go in front of you in line.
Let’s pray and thank Jesus for giving us the courage to obey Him.
Let’s Pray Together
Jesus,
Today, as I hear Your voice whisper in my heart to be kind to someone else,
help me to be brave and not afraid to do what You tell me to do.
Amen.
